LRIS Spectrograph
at Keck I
Final Adjustments being made to the LRIS (Low Resolution Imaging Spectrograph) before installation into Keck I at Cassegrain Focus.
With the telescope lowered to the horizon, Instruments can be "loaded" into Cassegrain Focus like torpedoes. In this picture, the LRIS is selected from the Instrument Bay. Each Instrument Bay can have three or four instruments on carts that can be installed at Cassegrain Focus.
LRIS shown here installed and ready for work.
